Arrival/Absences
Class will begin promptly at 9:00 am. If your child is late they must have an excuse or they will be marked tardy. If your child has to be absent from school please send a note when they return. Please see me for makeup work if you are going to be out over a week.
Birthdays/Book bags/Breakfast
Birthdays are to be celebrated!. If your child is having a birthday party please mail the invitations instead of sending them to school. Book bags are required for each student and will go home each day. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 -8:30. We will not hold breakfast if you are late and no outside food is allowed.
Conferences/Communication/Conduct
Conferences can be scheduled by calling the preschool office or by sending me a note. I will not be able to have a conference during instructional time. I will request conferences during progress report period and or if I see an immediate concern with your scholar. Below will be the following platforms of communication: Week at a Glance, Remind, email or a Phone Call from the school (concerns only). Parents can communicate with me by using the note section in the scholar’s binder, a scheduled parent teacher conference or by calling the school’s direct line (please do not call during instructional time 9:00-11:00).
The scholars will have a conduct system in class. Conduct will be indicated on the wall daily and in the scholar’s agenda book. The conduct rubric is as followed, E= Excellent, S=Satisfactory N=Needs Improvement, and U=Unsatisfactory. Please look over the conduct grade as well as any notes written. Each day we will strive for an “E”. This means they have followed school and classroom rules. Please sign and return daily.
* Your child’s obedience is a requirement. "Lesson Time is Valuable Time"
Daily/Weekly Progress
Please check your scholar’s agenda book daily to get information on their progress. If a skill needs attention, a note will be written from me in the note area and extra work can/will be sent home. Together we can improve this skill.
email
Please feel free to email me at [email protected] , if concerns or questions should arise.
**Field Trips
On campus field trips will be planned throughout the school year. Please keep in mind that some field trips will require a fee. Note that field trips fees are non-refundable. We would like every scholar to be able to share the same experiences and opportunities therefore we will try every way to host no-cost field trips.
Grading
The Scholars will be given grades in the following subjects that are covered in the curriculum: Arts and Craft, Numbers and Skills, Poem Memorization, large and fine motor skills, writing and Letters and Sounds. They will be given numeric grades that will be averaged. The averages will decide if the child gets an (E) for mastery, (S) for partial mastery, and an (N) for non mastery on both the progress and report cards. Please encourage your scholar to do his or her best at all times so that their grades will reflect their hard work. Graded papers will be sent home every Tuesday in their binder. Please sign and return the top sheet. The graded papers can be kept at home to review that week assignment.
Homework
Your child can expect homework Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Look for the assignments on the Week at a Glance and or Agenda Book. Please take the time to check your scholar’s assignments each day to assure accuracy and don’t forget to return them to school the next day. Late homework will result in a lower grade.
Independence
At the beginning of the year your scholar will probably need some assistance completing assignments and preparing for school reports or projects. As the year progresses, you will find that they will grow more independent. Please allow the scholar to do his or her homework or projects. Facilitate with their work but do not do it for them. Please encourage them to do their best daily and let them know how proud you are of them.
Jobs
We will have an alternating chore chart in class and each scholar will get a job every week. This will help the scholar to be responsible as well as give them a sense of class ownership. This is not my class, it is our class.
Pre-K
Pre-K4 is a very exciting time for Parents and Students! Research shows, children whose parents are interested in their schooling, learn with them and provide extra learning opportunities beyond school are most successful. Please be sure your scholar is well rested, well fed and emotionally ready for each school day. Make sure supplies are laid out the night before, and try to make “getting ready” in the morning as pleasant as possible.
Learning Centers
Did you know that children learn through play? To continue the learning process throughout the day, your scholar will have the opportunity to explore different centers in our classroom such as; Blocks, Dramatic Play, Puzzles, Manipulatives, Reading Center and more. These centers will help your scholar develop lifelong skills through discovery.
***Morning Procedures
When your scholar arrives each morning they are to unpack. This includes washing hands, hanging up their book bag, coats and putting away binders.
***Quiet/Naps
Quiet/Nap time is from 12p.m. to 1p.m. Each scholar will need a 2 inch mat Please do not send bed sheets, sleeping bags or pillows for safety precaution. All mats must be in good condition throughout the school year. Please replace as soon as possible if damaged.
Outside
Weather permitting; we will play outside each day to develop social and large motor skills and to release some of that “kid” energy. Please make sure your scholar has the appropriate clothing/shoes for outside activities.
***Parent Involvement
